Mountaineering villages are consciously committed to implementing the protocols of the Alpine Convention,
the European agreement on sustainable development and the protection of the Alps.
Mountaineering villages are exemplary regional development centres in sustainable Alpine tourism with a corresponding tradition.
This is why the mountains and mountaineering have a high value in the cultural self-image of locals and guests.
The awareness of the necessary harmony between nature and man is still alive here and people respect natural boundaries.

Ramsau by Berchtesgaden has been a national park community since 1978 and Germany's 1st mountaineering village since 2015.

The municipality pursues the specified goals as a member of the Berchtesgaden National Park Partner Initiative.
This initiative is based on the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations' Agenda 2030.
