Further connected tours:
Starting point of this walk is the Pfeiffenmacherbrücke, leading along a forest path to the Gletscherquellen, where meltwater of the Blaueis glacier emerges during periods of rainfall. After a further stretch through the winter forest and crossing of the Hinterseer Straße, you can look at the wild waters of the Marxenklamm on the right-hand side.
At the subsequent fork in the road, keep left and follow the path further along. After passing the bridge, turn left into the actual Zauberwald. Thousands of years ago, a massive rock fall formed this wild and romantic natural phenomenon. As you further along the path, you can admire the gurgling mountain stream that covers the rocks with ice and creates an enchanting fairytale landscape. Once arrived at Hintersee, the picturesque scenery, which attracted many painters in as early as the 19th century, is impressive. The circular path leads along the lake shore to a wider sandy road, where you keep to the right again and after a few meters downhill you come across the outward path that leads back to the starting point.
