Summer hike, not passable during snowfall
Through gigantic blocks of rock, which would suggest the action of nature's forces, the trail goes up through the cirque on wire-rope secured steps of rock, where soon you will stand on the 2153 m high summit.
On your way you will soon enter the imposing Blaueis cirque with views of the most northern glacier of the Alps, a relic of the last ice age.
A trail leads down to the Blaueishütte (mountain hut), which is surrounded by a breathtaking landscape of rocks. Your strength will soon be restored at the unique cake buffet of the hut. A hiking trail and a subsequent forest path lead quickly downhill to the Schärtenalm, which is cultivated in the summer.
Magnificent views into the valley of Ramsau, the scenic Lake Hintersee, Watzmann and the Blaueis cirque compensate for the climbing effort.
