The alpine pasture Kühroint is a high plateau located in front of the Watzmann massif, from which the imposing scenery of the Watzmann family seems within reach. From the national park information point, the ascent leads uphill along the Schapbachweg, which later merges into the wide forest road to Kühroint. Halfway, you reach the Schapbachalm. In the upper part of the alpine meadow, you can leave the forest road and follow the signposted shortcut, which leads directly to the mountain victim memorial chapel St. Bernard and the alpine pasture Kühroint. Straight across the alpine meadow, you reach the viewpoint Archenkanzel in about ½ hour. As if from a pulpit, you look down on the Königssee and the peninsula St. Bartholomä, the former hunting lodge of the provosts of Berchtesgaden, with its world-famous church, located 700 m below.
