The Halsalm (1260 m) is located directly below the south-east drops of the Reiteralpe and offers grandiose views of the Hintersee and the mountain world of the Berchtesgadener Land. In 2021, a bearded vulture reintroduction project was started opposite the Knittelhorn, which can be easily seen from an observation point on the path. 400 m after the barrier at the Klausbachhaus, a continuously rising wide forestry road branches off to the right. Ascending through the mountain forest, you quickly gain height and soon reach the eagle and vulture observation point in the Halsgrube and the grazing area of the Halsalm. You can refresh yourself with homemade cheese and drinks in the alpine hut. A rest at the Cross rewards you with a spectacular view of the Hintersee. Return: Same way or you can continue the circular walk and walk eastward over the alpine pasture. The narrow, but easily walkable path branches off to the right after 1.2 km through the mountain forest down to the Hintersee and on the footpath back to the starting point.
