The Klausbachtal is the westernmost of the three main valleys in the national park. It offers insights into the forces of water and rock, as well as idyllic alpine pastures and impressive flora and fauna. There are many interesting facts about the valley to be discovered and experienced up close. Information about animals, plants and alpine pastures can be found at the exhibitions in the Klausbachhaus, located at the entrance of the valley, as well as the eagle observation area, the game feeding station and the Engert information point along the 7km long way to the Hirschbichl Pass. Children find a nature experience area outside the Klausbachhaus, but first the life-size cow should be milked inside!

The valley is framed by the imposing rock faces of the Hochkalter and Hocheis massif as well as the Reiteralpe with the famous Ramsau Dolomites. The 55-meter-long accessible suspension bridge is spectacular for visitors of all ages. You can rest and stop at the idyllic, traditionally managed Ragertalm or Bindalm. The restaurant Hirschbichl in the Weißbach Nature Park is located shortly after the border crossing to Austria. From this point, hikes can be continued to the alpine pastures of the Litzlalm, Kammerlingalm, Kallbrunnalm or down via the Seisenbergklamm (“Gorge Seisenberg”) to the Saalachtal in Austria. The journey can also be partly or entirely taken by the AlmErlebnisBus (RVO line 847) or the Austrian Postbus. The buses travel along a mountain road not far from the footpath that is closed off to traffic. Therefore, the road also provides the perfect opportunity for cyclists to test their endurance on the steep ramps.
