The Eagles Nest

kehlsteinhaus_1.jpg

The eagles Nest was an unprecedented construction at an altitude of 1834m. What makes it unique is the imposing winding panoramic road leading to the plateau just below the house. The house can be reached via a 124m long tunnel and an elevator which arrives in the heart of the house.

The Eagles Nest is a must while visiting Berchtesgaden with its spectacular panoramic alpine views.

The eagles nest was a gift for Adolf Hitler on his 50th birthday. It was instigated by Martin Bormann. The building escaped bombing during the the war. The house today is still in its original form and well worth a visit.
